Purpose

purpose

-the reason for which something exists or is done, made, used, etc.
-an intended or desired result; end; aim; goal.
-determination; resoluteness.
-to have a purpose.

I am a mom.
My primary purpose is to raise my children.
It's not glamorous by any means. I don't get paid. I rarely get any sort of praise or pat on the back for what I do.

But, I do it, and I love it.

Loving it does not make it easy.
It can be lonely and discouraging.
I have days, and there are a lot of them, when I would rather do anything than change another diaper or clean up another mess.

I find myself wondering if I am giving motherhood my all, if I am doing the best I can to raise these beautiful little ones I have been entrusted with. If they are getting the love and attention the need and deserve.

There is a certain pressure that comes with being a mother, that I have yet to find anywhere else. Mothers feel pressure to do it all and have the perfect everything. Something tells us we aren't ever good enough.

I find myself comparing.
Comparing my house, yard, kids, clothes, body, the way I spend my time.

Too much comparing.
Not enough appreciation and contentment.

I am not perfect.

I will never be perfect.

My house, I guarantee, will always be a mess. My clothes will never be designer or put together in the perfect way.

My kids will make mistakes.

I will make mistakes.

I am a mother, a mom, a mama.

I have a divine responsibility.

I will do my best.

Some days my best may be just putting one foot in front of the other.

But I will do it.

Because that is who I am. That is why I am here.

That is my purpose.
